Week one: complete

I feel like they should hand out t-shirts at this point saying "I survived week one at OBS!" All in all this has been a very successful week. I realized though that I have jumped from taking 4 or 5 ballet classes a week to taking 11 in a week. That's over twice as many! How I am still standing is a mystery. After class today my friend Talia and I went to get sushi as a reward and had a great time. We tried to go back to her apartment and lay out by the pool but it started to rain which put a damper on things (get it, cause it rained?). Instead we just relaxed in her apartment, read some magazines, painted our toe/finger nails, and went for a walk. It feels kinda odd to have almost a full day out of the studio and have a real full day off tomorrow. I got one of my three text books last night so I can finally start school! I haven't decided if that is a good or bad thing yet, but it must be done. Now I have the rest of the night to myself. What to do, what to do.....oh and GO BUCS :D

Almost done with week one

I was just starting to write a post last night when I was given some bad news. My grandfather, Pappy, found out yesterday that his cancer has come back again. This is his third time to have cancer and I would appreciate so very much if everyone would be praying for him, my family, and family friends. Well, the past two days have been very tiresome and full of very hard work. Today we had Ms. Marsh twice, which was intense! She gives one tough class. She doesn't let anything slide but that I just what I need. We had rehearsals for Stars and Stripes again today ,and I got to actually do it for the first time! Mr. Munoz had been choreographing the piece on six people and today he asked for another group to give it a go. The first run through was rough but the second one was much better. Right after that I went to a rehearsal for a piece Mr. Hill did last year and is resetting with more people. I have been understudying a girl that was originally in the piece, but today her foot was hurt so I jumped in and took her place. Thank goodness I had been paying attention and knew what to do! I messed up some arms here and there though. I just have to make it through another full day tomorrow and 9am-1pm on Saturday, then it will be time for some needed rest. Maybe I'll even be able to go out with some people. We shall see! Time for a food update: Last night I helped with dinner! We had chicken, pasta (which I cooked), and green beans. Tonight we had kabobs, sweet potatoes, and broccoli. Then I ate some good ole ice cream! I just can't resist it and deserve it after dancing all day. That's my reasoning and I'm sticking to it! That's pretty much it. Just a lot of dancing mixed in with some sleep, food, and baby Makayla. I really should look into a job as a professional baby bouncer. I'm going to get some ripped arms and legs from holding/bouncing Makayla. But I don't mind doing it one bit because she is so stinking cute! Anyways, please pray for my Pappy and that I will survive nine more months at this level of dancing. XOXO

Day numba 2

This is gonna be short because I am pooped! I had a total of 7.5 hours of class/rehearsal today. Let me break it down for you: 1.5 ballet class+1rehearsal+1.5rehearsal+1.5ballet class+1 pointe calss+ 1 jazz class = 7.5 hours total. Overall it was a good day besides when it came to turning. It was not at all a good turning day. But hey, maybe tomorrow will be! My energy meter is close to E, so it is time to go to bed super early and feel all better tomorrow! Hope all is well with anyone who reads this :D

First day blogness

FIRST DAY IS OVER WITH! Can I get a whooooo?! WHOOOOO! Okay, now I will stop with the annoying all caps and get serious (ha). My first class was at 11:30, which I did not mind one bit. It was awesome to see everyone I had become friends with over the summer and to see some new faces too. Everyone looked refreshed and ready to get back to the grind of it. I know I was! I had ballet with Mr. Munoz who I love dearly. He is French and hilarious! Then I had a rather long break that will normally be filled with school work, but I still don't have my text books yet. It's weird because I kinda feel like I have already graduated and shouldn't be taking more classes. Maybe I'll just get them done really fast and be done with high school. After the break we had modern (honestly I was not looking forward to modern at all) and it turned out to be almost enjoyable. Almost. Then I had a ballet class with Mr. Munoz again which was also a very fun class. Finally I had variations class that was taught by a company member who is super sweet and even more helpful. We did a variation form Don Q and I loved it! It was very sassy and my style. After a long day of hard work I came home and got a yummy dinner of steak, green beans, and a biscuit. It was delicious! Then I had a yogurt parfait thingy with some pineapple because I am obsessed with pineapple. I think that is about it! This post was rather boring but factual. All in all, I had fun dancing today and have been missing that for a while now. I can only pray that will continue through out the year.
Side note: please ignore any grammar errors. Thanks

And we made it!

I am officially in Orlando! Whoo hooo! I was a lazy bum and slept almost the entire way. For real. Last night we stayed at my grandparents house and got to see a good bit of our family and eat lots and lots of food (which came to bite me in the butt later). Taco soup, tacos, nachos, and an amazing pound cake with whip cream icing that had pineapples and oranges in it. So yummy! It was all delicious but did not agree with my tummy this morning when it all tried to come back and see the light of day again. Thankfully it did not succeed. Enough with that nastiness. On the way here I kept a small record of funny names of streets, towns, and such: Ty Ty, Georgia, Ty Ty Nursery, Ty Ty Station, Lower Ty Ty Street, Old Coffee Road, Slappey Blvd. Also, my mama and I saw the new 2012 VW Bug! It looked kinda weird, but hey, whatever floats your boat. Now we are hanging around the house with my Aunt and Uncle playing with my baby cousin. I love moments like this. Hope everyone has a fun and safe Friday!

PS: does anyone actually read this?

The World of Ballet Shoes

I just now noticed (the day I am leaving of course. Some things never change.) that I need leather ballet shoes when all I have is canvas. Thank  goodness for the internet! I began looking on Discount Dance, thinking there wouldn't be a very large selection. Wrong. There are 20 different types of women's leather split sole ballet shoes. Yes, I took time and counted only the women's split sole leather ballet shoes. Cause I can. Some have arch support, some have special lining, some have heel cushions, some have canvas arches, some have durable thread, some have antibacterial lining, some absorb sweat, some run small, some run larger, and list goes on and on. How in the heck do I pick? Oh the dilemmas of being a dancer..... how about some old fashion eenie meenie miney moe to solve the problem? Does anyone know what "eenie meenie miney moe" even means or where it came from? If so, I'd love to know!

First Blog (how cliche....)

Okay, so I am a newbie at this so no judging allowed. I decided today that I would keep a blog in order to keep all my friends and family updated on Orlando. Well, I am still in Hoover but figured it would be best to give this shindig a go before actually getting to Orlando. I am done packing and basically ready to go! I will arrive at my new home Friday late in the afternoon (just in time for a yummy dinner). I will probably be talking a lot about food because my aunt and uncle always have something yummy for dinner! Now I have a good arena to share what my taste buds experience nightly. Just get ready. I think enough for my first blog. Nighty night!
